The Department Management module is used to manage the various departments of the laboratory, which are used for various functions of the preLink V3 LIMS, including configuration of auto sign off, request printing, and for allocating a specific sign off user. Here you can also create and add a custom department of your own title and choosing.


To access this module, navigate to "Administration > General > Miscellaneous > Department Management", as shown below.




This will bring you to the following screen:




Search 


To quickly search for a department: 

  • Enter the Name in the Search field and click on the "Search" button. 
  • To quickly clear the Search field, click on the "Clear" button.



Add a New Department


  • Click on "Add new record" (at the the top of the list, below the search field).



The following options will appear on the right:



  • Enter the department Name.
  • Enter the department Code. Used in EDI exports.
  • Enter the department Color.  
  • Enter the Display Order. Determines the position in which the department will display in a list (e.g. when toggling the Display Order tab at the top of the column from lowest to highest, or vice versa).
  • Select the Resulting Type. Determines the type/method of resulting on the Results/request screen.
  • Select Yes or No for Hold Request Print. Used for report printing. Choose to wait to print the results of requests when other departments have completed sending results.
  • Click on "Insert" to add the department to the list (or "Cancel" to cancel changes and close the Department Details window).


Note: "Auto Sign Off" options are configured once the the department has been added. See "Edit Department" section below.



Edit a Department


  • Click on "Edit" on a department in the list that you wish to edit.



The Department Details will appear on the right.



  • Edit the details in the Department Details options fields.


Auto Sign Off


  • Selected Yes or No for whether  Auto Sign Off should be enabled when all tests are completed for the department.
  • Select a specific Sign Off User for the department (optional).

  • Click on "Update" once all changes are complete (or "Cancel" to cancel the changes and close the Department Details window). 


Delete the Department 


  • Click on "Delete", and "OK" in the pop-up confirmation box.
