The Menu Management module is used to manage/customize the preLink Front End and Back End (Administration) top menu bars.


To access this module (using the menu bars), navigate to "Administration > General > Miscellaneous > Menu Management", as shown below.




This will bring you to the following screen:



*WARNING* Please take note of the "Regenerate Menu" message and button on the right side of the screen.




Select the Menu


  • Select "Front End" or "Back End" from the Menu Group drop-down list.



The menu items (aka "modules") will then appear in a branching tree-list structure, as shown above.


Some modules have sub-menu items, which are indicated by the small black arrow . Click on the arrow to extend and collapse the sub-menu item(s).  




Modifying Menu Items


  • Click on a menu item in the list. The options for that menu item will then appear on the right.



*WARNING* Do not change the "Url", "Metric", and/or edit "Manage System Objects and Permissions" unless you are absolutely certain.


  • Caption - Used to edit the Menu Item name.
  • Url - The url (web address) for the Menu Item's web page.
  • Description - A brief description of the Menu Item/module's use.
  • Metric - Used for web page analytical purposes.  
  • Active - Determines if the Menu Item appears on the menu bar (ticked=visible, unticked=hidden).


Manage System Objects and Permissions


  • Click on "Manage System Objects and Permissions" to bring up the Menu Item Management window.



  • Click on "Add new record" to add a new permission. 
  • Or click on "Edit" on an existing permission.


The following options will appear.



  • Select the System Object from the drop-down list.
  • Select the Permission type from the drop-down list.
  • Click on "Insert" (or click on "Cancel" to cancel changes and return to Menu Item Management.
  • If editing a permission, click on "Update" to update changes. Or click on "Delete", and "OK" in the pop-up confirmation box to delete the permission.
