Select "Administration" on the preLink menu bar.



On the following Administration menu bar, select "Test Management > Cost Codes".



This will bring you to the Cost Code Management screen;



Here you can search, add, edit, and/or delete Cost Codes associated to laboratory tests to/from the preLink V3 LIMS.



Search Cost Codes:


  • Enter the Name of the Cost Code in the search field at the top of the screen, select the "Name" search parameter in the drop-down list, and click on "Search".
  • Or, enter the Cost Code in the search field, select the "BHF Code" search parameter in the drop-down list, and click on "Search".
  • Click on "Clear" to clear the search field.



Add a Cost Code:


1. Click on "Add new Record" as indicated below;


This will bring you to the following screen;



2. Enter the Cost Code details:


  • Name: Name of the test.
  • Code: The Cost Code associated with the test.
  • Unit Price: The price of the test.


3. Click on the "Insert" button, or click on "Cancel" to cancel all changes and exit.


The screen will now change to the Edit screen described below. 



Edit a Cost Code:


1. Click on "Edit" to the far right of the Cost Code you want to edit, as indicated below;



This will bring you to the following screen;



2. Edit the Cost Code details:


  • Name: Name of the test.
  • Code: The Cost Code associated with the test.
  • Unit Price: The price of the test.


3. Click on the "Update" button (if successful message shown below with be displayed), or click on "Cancel" to cancel all changes and exit. 




Delete a Cost Code:


There are two methods of deleting Cost Codes:


  • Edit the cost code, as described above, and then click on the "Delete" button. This will delete the Cost code and take you back to the Cost Code Management screen.
  • Click on "Delete" on the far right of the Cost Code item on the Cost Code Management screen list as indicated below;




Add a Cost Code Override:


This is used for alternative prices used by eg. different labs, medical aid, hospitals, etc.


1. On the Edit screen, as described above in Edit a Cost Code, click on "Add a New Record". A new set of options will appear on the right as indicated below;



  • Select a required override option from the provided drop-down lists (E.g. lab site, medical aid, or hospital ward).
  • Enter the override price next to "Unit Price:".
  • Click on "Insert" to add it to the Cost Code Override list on the left (or click on "Cancel" to close and cancel all changes).
  • To edit or delete a cost code override, click on "Edit" or "Delete", as indicated below.



Note: It is not necessary to click on 'Update' to apply changes to Cost Cost Overrides. Just click on 'Cost Code Management' on the top left-hand side to go back to the Cost Code Management screen and list.
