Double click on the preLink Image Station application icon on your desktop to open it.
Click on "Options > Setup..." on the Image Station application menu, as shown below.
The Setup options window will appear:
Note: "Destination 1" is the default setup window, which uses an IP/URL address to connect to preLink. "Destination 2" is used to connect a second scanner and has the same options as Destination 1. "Proxy Server" is only used if a proxy is specifically used in your network. If unsure of what option to use, please contact your IT department, or send an email to support@prelink.co.za
Server Settings
Display Name: The custom display name of the image station.
preLink Web Address: Enter the company/laboratory preLink IP address or URL (i.e. the same IP/URL address as the preLink LIMS, shown in the address bar of your browser). Press "Enter" on the key board to connect.
Station: After connecting to the preLink IP/URL, select an available Image Station from the drop-down list.
Passcode: Contains the unique passcode for the Image Station. Click on "Authenticate" after entering the passcode to activate the Image Station.
If the passcode fails to authenticate, it means it is not the correct passcode.
Note: The Image Station passcode can be found in the preLink LIMS by navigating to "Administration > General > Site Admin > Station Management > Image Station". Only users with the Administrator role can access or change the passcode.
Hot Key Setup (for quick access to image station/scanner)
Routine Request: Select a keyboard Hot Key from the drop-down list.
Urgent Request: Select a keyboard Hot Key from the drop-down list.
Note: Changing the hotkeys requires a program restart.
Scanner Setup
Current Scanner: Click on "Select..." to select the scanner used with the Image Station from the drop down list.
Document Feeder: Select "Yes" or "No" according to whether a document feeder is used with the scanner.
Close TWAIN after Feed: Select "Yes" or "No" according to whether the connection to the scanner must close after scanning (this is necessary if the scanner is used in an office/lab for other purposes.
Scan Mode: Select "Simplex" (single-sided form) or "Duplex" (double-sided form).
Color Dropout: Used to make the information on coloured forms more visible for capture. Select "Hardware" (scanner), "Software" (preLink), or "None" (scan is unchanged).
Software B&W: Select "Yes" or "No" for whether to use preLink to convert all scanned images to black & white.
Threshold: Determines the quality of detail in the scanned image. E.g. Low threshold = finer detail (including fingerprints/smudges etc). High threshold = less detail but with a cleaner looking scan.
Resolution: Shows the set resolution for scanning. Adjust in Scanner Options.
%: Used to adjust the level of brightness.
Scanner Options
When clicking on "Scanner Options", if a scanner has been selected in Scanner Setup, and is properly configured/connected with the PC, then the scanner's software options will appear. These options are unique to the type/brand of scanner used.
Complete the Setup
To complete the setup click on "OK" at the bottom of the options window, or "Cancel" to cancel all changes and exit.
