Please note: When using/receiving paper request forms, the very first step in the Data Capture process is to ensure that the request forms are barcoded and scanned.
Once the barcode labeling and scanning steps have been completed, the scanned forms will be waiting in the capture queue, ready for the Data Capture staff to capture their information.
To access the data entry screen of a request in the capture queue, click on one of the areas indicated below:

Capture Time Out
*Warning* After 20 minutes, if capturing has not been completed, the system will automatically time it out, all data captured, except for the tests, will be lost, and the request will be made available to other users.
Information on the status of requests can be seen on the Document Capture Queue screen:
“Waiting for Verification from (username) - Remove from user” - The data capture has not been completed by the person who has either scanned the form or started the data capture.
“Waiting for Verification - Not assigned - Add to My Queue” - It has not been captured after scanning and is available for anyone to be captured.
“Assigned to (username)” - It is currently in the process of being captured.
The original data capturer may choose to re-enter the information, or someone else can take on the task of capturing by clicking on “Add to My Queue”.
Data Capture Screen
There are 3 different types of capture screens available on the PreLink V3 LIMS:
1. Full capture screen - used for standard diagnostic requests
2. Insurance capture screen.
3. Project capture screen - for projects and clinical trials
Full Capture Screen:
The Full Data Entry screen in PreLink V3 is the default capture screen selected upon entering data capture, and has been revised to follow the logical flow of a standard diagnostic request form on the split capture screen. Note that we have the capture columns in the order of Request Info, Patient Info, Guarantor Info, with the Test column last.
The other capture screen types can be selected from the "Capture Type" drop-down list on the right side of the screen, as indicated with the blue outline in the above screenshot.
